Four Plainview JFK Seniors Named Nassau All Stars

Outstanding showing for Hawks; football game to be played on Thanksgiving Day.

Four Plainview JFK seniors have been named to the Nassau County High School All Star football team, a big prize for the 4-4 Hawks who made the playoffs this season.

"I'm ecstatic," said Head Football Coach Chris Rogler, now in his second year as Plainview's head coach and who has taken the team from 1-7 in 2011 to this year's solid 4-4 regular season. "To see these kids and watch how hard they work is an inspiration. It's just great."

The four Plainview JFK players, all seniors are:

  • Alec Abramowitz, the Hawks' starting quarterback who will play free safety for the All Stars. Abramowitz played stellar defense throughout the season.
  • Nick Laiosa, who will play "quick guard" on offense.
  • Nick Laspina, who will play as offensive center, and
  • Danny Brennan, Plainview's standout running back.

Brennan has fully recovered from an ankle injured suffered near the end of Plainview's first round playoff game against Farmingdale, Rogler said. The Dalers won that game, 28-0, and have now advanced to the Nassau Div. I title game Friday night against Baldwin.

The format for Thursday's All Star Game pits a team comprised of athletes from Nassau divisions I and IV against those of division II and III and will be played at the football field at the Mitchell Field Athletic Complex, adjacent to Nassau Community College in Garden City.

The teams are already practicing; certain modification in the rules are required of both squads.

The game is scheduled for Thanksgiving morning; the time to be announced.
