Four Vikings Swimmers Nab All-Division Honors

Another positive step for the boys varsity swim team heading into the Section 8 Nassau County Championships this weekend.

Schreiber High School's boys swim team participated in the Division D Championships this past weekend at the Nassau County Aquatic Center at Eisenhower Park. The Vikings placed fourth in the meet, behind Long Beach, Wantagh and Garden City, who placed first, second and third, respectively.

Despite the fourth-place finish, the team's 200 Medley Relay members received All-Division honors. Ivan Bandovic, Steven Smith, Jason Moss and Matthew Epstein finished third in the race to earn this award. Bandovic attained All-Division status in the 200 Individual Medley and 200 Butterfly as well. He finished second in both races, breaking his school record in the 200 Individual Medley in the process (2:07.43).

"It is a great accomplishment to have our athletes recognized as All-Division by Nassau County," Coach Joe Lennon said. "The boys have worked hard this season and their dedication to the sport paid off."

Lennon said the entire swim team is looking to have additional big swims at the upcoming Section 8 Nassau County Championships being held this weekend at Nassau County Aquatic Center at Eisenhower Park. Trials will be held Friday evening at 7 p.m. and the finals are Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

"As we continue toward the county championships, this is great motivation for us," Lennon said of the All-Division honors. "We're looking forward to a great meet this weekend."
