Port Field Hockey Falls in Nassau County Championship

Massapequa defeats Port Washington 6-0 at Adelphi University.

Massapequa shut out Port Washington 6-0 Sunday to win the Nassau County Conference II girls field hockey championship at Adelphi University on Sunday.

Gabby Curtis and Michele Cook had two goals apiece and the Chiefs broke out to a 5-0 lead after the first half. They each had an assist on the day as well. Rachel Sieber and Jamie Ahrens scored the other two for Massapequa, and Ahrens added three assists.

Port Washington (5-8) advanced to the county championship with a 2-1 win over East Meadow last week.

Before the title game, Massapequa (10-3) beat Sewanhaka 4-0 in the semifinals. Curtis scored two goals in that game as well, with Elizabeth Rescigno and Christina Conkling adding the other two.
