Port Washington Sports Notebook: March 24-31

There are so many sports out in the Port Washington area, it can be a full-time job just sifting through all of the action. Luckily, you have Patch and we will get you caught up in one convenient place each week.

Here’s what the local Port Washington teams have been up to recently:

Port Washington:

Baseball: In the first game of the year, Bryce Keller had a performance for the ages. He led Port Washington to a 4-0 victory over Herricks on March 27 by tossing a complete game three-hit shutout while walking zero batters and striking out 20. Adam Rubenstein drove in two of the runs.

On March 30, they defeated Elmont 6-2 thanks to Vinny LaManna's complete game victory in which he allowed only one earned run. Bryce Keller hit a two-run home run.

SoftballThe girls were defeated on March 28 by a score of 16-1 against Bellmore JFK. Rebecca Ellision was the winning pitcher and Cora Traviglione went three-for-four with two home runs and 5 RBIs.

Girls LacrosseThe girls were victorious over Friends Academy on March 28 by a score of 14-4. Natali Ledwitz led the team with four goals while Lauren DeSimone and Olivia Ressa each had three.

Manhasset:

Boys Lacrosse: The Indians lost a close game against Syosset by a score of 9-8 on March 30 in their first game of the season. The game was decided on a goal with eight seconds remaining by Alex Concannon. Meyer totaled 12 saves for Manhassey while Fahey amassed three goals and an assist.

Girls Lacrosse: Manhasset defeated Notre Dame Prep on March 28 by a score of 15-4. Natalie Stefan led the team with four goals while Kelsey Quackenbush recorded seven saves.

St. Mary’s:

Baseball: The Gaels were shutout 8-0 on March 27 by Eastport-South Manor. Steve Arnsten was the winning pitcher with Palma suffering the defeat.
