Vikings Defeat Bruins in Girls Volleyball Wednesday

Port Washington wins key conference game at Schreiber.



Gritting out an exciting home victory Wednesday, the Port Washington girls volleyball team won for the second time this week in a key conference game.

By scores of 19-25, 25-23, 25-18 and 25-21, the Vikings took three of four games from the previously unbeaten Bruins (2-1) and improved to 2-1 in Conference AA-1. 

Top performers for Port Washington were senior setter Megan Murphy with 24 assists and 10 kills; senior middle hitter Claudia Varner with 10 kills and junior outside hitter Diandra Burton with 10 kills.

"It was the best game we played by far all year," said Vikings Head Coach Bryan Patterson. "It was a major victory for us heading into Massapequa on Friday."
