Where The Fish Are

Which fish are biting and where in and around Port Washington.

Fishing is a favorite pastime for some, which is why on any given day or evening it's no surprise to see folks and their fishing gear perched along Manhasset Bay. Here's what fishing experts say you'll find in our local waters.

Over at the Town Dock, you'll find striped bass, as big as 40 inches, bluefish in the mid 30-inch range, and snapper that are smaller in size, according to the buzz at Atlantic Outfitters on Inspiration Wharf.

According to TheFishingLine.com, blue fish have been spotted by Execution Rocks Lighthouse, with some in Long Island Sound reported as big as 16 pounds. By Execution and also in and around Sands Point, you'll also find 17-inch porgies. This has been a good week too for catching fluke.
