Manhasset Bay Kayak Run Set for July 26

Kayak or canoe across Manhasset Bay for a good cause.

The Town of North Hempstead Port Washington-Manhasset Bay Kayak Run is set for Saturday, July 26 in Port Washington. The event offers the chance to enjoy kayaking or canoeing in the bay and also  benefit the Community Chest of  Port Washington, which provides funds for non-profit organizations in Port Washington.

Now in its tenth year, the annual event begins at 10 a.m. with a bang  – literally, as a cannon blast signifies the run’s start. Participants paddle at their own pace, leisurely or full steam ahead, along Manhasset Bay’s five-mile course to designated locations where they receive  raffle tickets.

At 12:30 p.m., upon hearing the canon fire again, paddlers go ashore and head for the Town Dock, for a raffle-drawing.  The lucky top prize winner will receive a kayak.
