Life As We Text It: Hot Topics Via The Eyes of 2 Professionals On-the-go

Is Douglas Kennedy just another entitled rich and famous guy, or just a dad wanting to get some fresh air for his newborn?

Liz Kase: Did you read about the latest Kennedy scandal? Douglas Kennedy, youngest son of RFK, tried to take his newborn outside for some fresh air…alert the media!

Susan Bartell: Yes! I can't believe he tried to leave the hospital with his baby. Why do the rich & famous feel they don't have to obey rules?

LK: Hmm. I read it differently--nurses cashing in on a windfall. Why can't a father give his child fresh air! It was a gorgeous day-he asked permission.

SB: What kind of lesson will he teach his child-that it's ok to do what you like despite rules? There's too much of that in our world already.

LK: Some rules are made to be broken. Think MLK! This was an act of civil disobedience @ worst. @ best a dad trying to enjoy the sunshine.

SB: Ok so maybe the nurses overreacted, but people need to be respectful, this wasn't civil…just disobedience.

LK: There are 2 legal issues: did Kennedy really injure the nurses? Did he really endanger the welfare of his child? I don't believe that, legally, he did either.

SB: I'm not sure about the nurses, but he fell holding his child-putting him in harm's way & he endangers him in the long run by modeling NO frustration tolerance.

LK: LOL! It could be argued that they created the danger by trying to physically stop a man carrying a newborn…the case can be made for many interpretations.

SB: So you think anytime rules are disobeyed we should step aside & let them do what they want or have a tantrum? Not me! Most rules are not made 2 be broken.

LK: Of course not. We are a society of laws& order, but laws must be rational & their application must be reasonable.

SB: So true, I wish that in this case everyone had taken a deep breath before acting on their own desires.
