Preservers' 'Illusion' Celebration is Saturday

The event benefits the Sands Points Preserve.

The Sixth Annual Preservers Fundraising Celebration  comes to life Saturday, April 26, at Hempstead House at Sands Point Preserve. The theme of this year’s gala is Illusion “…is the First of All Pleasures.”

The evening promises a night of ethereal magic, featuring strolling magicians, contortionists, a hologram photo booth and moving marble statues. There will be culinary delights by Philip Stone Caterers, including a lavish sushi spread and “Love Potion #9,” a signature cocktail served over dry ice. And don’t forget the soundtrack created by DJ AndiBlaze.

The evening offers an eclectic festival honoring the Preserve and the Guggenheim Estate’s rich history. This year’s honoree is former board member Anthony Dalessio, Managing Partner of KPMG LLP on Long Island, and the Award of Distinction recipient is Elise C. Tepper.

“We are particularly proud to recognize two outstanding people, and to have so many supporters appreciate how important philanthropy is to our organization,” said Jean-Marie Posner, Executive Director of Friends of The Sands Point Preserve.

The event benefits the Preserve and its robust programming. There’s cultural arts featuring cabarets, operas and jazz performances as well as a Design Showhouse at Hempstead House; year-round nature and education programs; daily fitness and recreation classes for adults and children; and agricultural and habitat workshops with bee-whispering, birding and equestrian programs – most of which are free with the purchase of an annual pass.
