Community Chest Now Accepting Grant Applications

Community Chest of Port Washington grant applications are due on or before March 26.

The Community Chest of Port Washington is now accepting grant applications from non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organizations that provide social, health or educational services to the community of Port Washington. Grant applications are due on or before Friday, March 26.

Today, the Community Chest supports more than 20 organizations that help Port Washington residents. "We invite organizations to apply for a Community Chest grant to help support their programs in Port Washington," Community Chest President Richard Strautman said. "In these times of great need, the Community Chest is here for the people of Port to support vital programs and organizations."

The grant applications are evaluated by the Community Chest Budget and Allocations committee. Grant funds are intended to provide general operating or specific program support, and may not be used for capital improvements or equipment purchases. The grant funds awarded will be distributed on a quarterly basis beginning in January 2011.

The grant recipients are selected based on the need for services in Port Washington; the number of people served in Port Washington; the organization's need for Community Chest funds; the ability of the organization to deliver services, and the fiscal management and stability of the organization.

Community Chest of Port Washington is a not-for-profit organization established more than 50 years ago to raise funds for distribution to local charities dedicated to improving the lives of local residents.
