Family Italian Deli is an official drop off point for non prishable foods for LONG ISLAND CARES (The Harry Chapin Food Bank).

In many ways, America is the land of plenty. But for 1 in 6 people in the United States, hunger is a reality. Many people believe that the problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain areas of the country, or certain neighborhoods, but the reality is much different. Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days.

Long Island is no different, or amune to this. This affects every religion, color, and race. It could be a neighbor, friend, or even a family member you may know.

Another thing that some folks might not think of: Pets also go hungry. Long Island Cares also accepts: Wet/Dry Dog Food, Wet/Dry Cat Food, Dog and Cat Treats,  Collars, Leashes, Bird Seed, Fish Food, Kitty Litter, Small New pet Toys.

So as you sit down to your next meal, please find it in your hearts to think of those that hunger daily, and drop off some non-perishable food items, unwanted gift cards, or even a monetary donation (in the form of a check to: Long Island Cares) to us.

Thank you all, and god bless everyone!

The Global Knights Templar S.O.E.T.  ( Supernus Ordo Equester Templi )

Question February 19, 2012 at 01:16 PM
Ever wonder whAt the glObal knights templar are???

Would you like the answer to that question in a nutshell? As the Grand Prior of the Knights Templar for the USA, I think I can help... We are following the the descendants of the original Knights dating back to 1129 A.D. Historically the Templars were the protectors of the Catholic Church during the crusades. Today Supernous Ordo Equester Templi symbolically turns "protecting of pilgrims travelling to the Holy Land in the name of God" into charitable deeds of good towards our fellow man. But being a Templar Knight is not for the faint of heart. You have to be willing to give of yourself at all times. Knights must be armed with the tools, and resources necessary to assist in times of crisis, and to not only lead the way, but to set an example of what it means to be a silent hero. And all of this without seeking thanks for your actions. When the final battle is fought, it will be God who will reward his servants. Our numbers have grown expodentially over the decades, and span the globe to include people from all walks of life who are dedicated to "giving back" in the name of God. I hope this helps...

The Rosicrucian Knights Templar are Masonic. This order is non-Masonic, and dates back to the original Crusade Templars. (I have been a mason for over 25 years as well).
