Garage Sale Supplies Two Grand for Salem HSA

South Salem HSA raises more than $2,000 through its first annual Salem Garage Sale.

Last Saturday, the South Salem Elementary School HSA held its first annual Salem Garage Sale. Donations to the sale were made by families from every grade in the elementary school, and there were many parent and student volunteers working throughout the day to ensure that everything ran smoothly.

"There was a fantastic turnout for the event and there were many satisfied customers," said Kate Hirsch, who coordinated the event. "We had a great turnout, a lot of families from Port Washington and many other towns found a lot of bargains."

More than $2,000 was raised for the South Salem HSA through the garage sale, and the coinciding bake sale. Additionally, after the sale ended, all of the unsold items were donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

"It was a great school-wide event," Hirsch said. "Families were able to contribute to the school in many different ways and there was a great sense of community spirit."
