VFW Thanks Community For Help With Building Repairs

Community pitches in to repair building damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

By John Chalker, commander Port Washington VFW

The spring and summer of 2013 has been busy for our veterans in Port Washington.

The veterans of Henderson-Marino VFW Post 1819 addressed the damage suffered by our building during Hurricane Sandy. Many entities and folks from town pitched in to help Port's veterans in this endeavor.

In July, Calabrese Landscaping donated a tremendous landscaping job which cleaned up our property immensely.

The VFW exists on contributions from our good-hearted citizens. The contributions received allow us to recruit and assist overseas combat veterans.
