'Get Your Licks On Route 66' cross-country mobile unit drivers are blessed by Port clergy.
The third annual "Get Your Licks On Route 66" cross-country pet adoption tour had its kick-off ceremony and blessing of the mobile unit drivers on Thursday at the Father Steve of Our Lady of Fatima and Rabbi Shelia Goloboy of Port Jewish Center led the well-wishers in prayer for the safety of the drivers, Jen Lewis, James Gleason and Dan McNena.
The mobile unit is being driven to its first stop in Flagstaff, Arizona, and will continue along Route 66 for a month before returning back to New York for a grande finale adoption event on Sept. 25. NSALA aims to raise awareness of the plight of homeless pets and spotlight the vital services of animal shelters and rescue groups.
