Turkey Trotters to Include Elementary School Kids

is covering our costs for the running program," said Megarea Regan, who teaches physical education at Manorhaven.

"The children have been running during PE classes and sometimes at
recess to prepare for the Turkey Trot," she added. "They have been taught about
hydration, pacing themselves, proper warm-up and cool-down, etc. They also have been taught that, since this is a 5-mile event, they can expect to walk for parts of it."

"Additionally," she said, "All of the elementary schools have purchased
'toe tokens,' little charms the children collect, as incentives to encourage the children to run during PE and, in some cases, recess time.
