Town Board Meeting: The North Hempstead Town Board meets Tuesday at 7:30 p.m at Town Hall in Manhasset. Agenda

Family Fest: The Town of North Hempstead will hold its annual Family Fest on Sunday, Sept. 15 with food, kayaking, face painting, petting zoo, hair braiding, spin art, New York Knicks Basketball Groove Truck and live entertainment from noon until 5 p.m. at North Hempstead Beach Park. For more information go online to www/northhempstead.com or call 311.

9/11:

  • The Town of North Hempstead is sponsoring a Sept. 11 memorial service to be held at Clark Botanic Garden, 193 I.U. Willets Road in Albertson on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. The service is open to all. Officials say the occasion provides an opportunity for the community to reflect on the tragic events of 12 years ago. More info
  • The Village of Manorhaven will remember on Wednesday those who lost their lives and courageously helped rescue others on 9/11. There will be an unveiling of an artifact obtained from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, a piece of the beam from the World Trade Center.
