Meet The Candidates Forum; Landmark Concert

Columbus Day Library Hours: The Port Washington Library will be open 1-5 p.m. on Oct. 14 in honor of Columbus Day.

Meet The Candidates: The League of Women Voters will sponsor a candidate forum Oct. 16 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, 48 Shelter Rock Rd. in Manhasset. Those running for North Hempstead supervisor, North Hempstead town clerk and the Nassau County legislature in districts 9, 10 an 11 will be on hand to present their views and field audience questions. Streisand Songbook: At The Landmark on Main Street on Oct. 16, Ann Hampton Callaway will perform her critically acclaimed cabaret show which pays  tribute to the songs of Barbra Streisand. Showtime 8 p.m. More information here.

Pharmaceutical Take-Back Event: The Town of North Hempstead will partner with the Nassau County Police Department, Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice and local school districts for the Pharmaceutical Drop-off program on Oct. 19. The drop-off program allows residents to safely dispose of expired and unwanted prescription and over-thecounter medications. Residents are urged to discard expired and unwanted pharmaceuticals at each of the Stop Throwing Out Pollutants (S.T.O.P.) events. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wheatley School,  11 Bacon Rd. Old Westbury. More information here.
