North Hempstead to Host Memorial Day Tribute, Fireworks

North Hempstead will be kicking off the summer season with its annual Memorial Day Commemoration and Fireworks.

The events will be held on Saturday at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington.

The event honors those who sacrificed their lives defending the nation and will feature the U.S Marine Corps Color Guard, Nassau County Police Pipe Band, and the Volunteers of America firing detail.

The live beachfront concert will feature performances by The LP’s, playing the music of Paul McCartney and Chicago, as well as Mack and Soul, featuring popular tunes of yesterday and today. The highlight of the evening will be a remarkable fireworks show by Bay Fireworks over Hempstead Harbor.

The park will open at 3 p.m. and the ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Residents are urged to arrive early. Vehicles entering the park will be charged a $10 parking fee. Once the parking lot reaches maximum capacity, buses will shuttle attendees to North Hempstead Beach Park.
