We eat at Amalfi weekly - because with young kids I can't cook every night of the week and Amalfi is as close to home cooked as you can get. They are super kid-friendly, don't frown upon anything, and are just so accommodating unlike many other restaurants in Port Washington. The owner is very friendly and sincere as are the waiters and waitresses and the bus staff. I also have a child who suffers from multiple food allergies and I am more than confident that he is safe eating here. I can't say enough about this place - but then again it is packed every night of the week, so I think that speaks for itself.

One of my favorite meals is bean soup with escarole followed by an Amalfi panini. Good eating without breaking the bank. And the staff is quite friendly.

We ordered two calzones to take out. When we got them home which is only a few mintes away we discovered that they wer fill with ricotta only and no mozzarella. It was like spooning soup and was disgusting. My wife called and complained they applogized and said they would make it right.

We went back a few weeks later and ate inside. My wife ordered manicotti. She had a mouthfull and started to chew and bit down on something sharp. It was a toothpick in the manicotti. When we compalined they said they buy their manicotti frozen and just add the sauce. The toothpick was in the sauce. The owner never once came over to appolgize to us but stayed by the register even after my wife demanded to speak with him. If it was not the weekend and the fact that she was not hurt, I would have complained to the board of health.
