Both my children had Mrs. Hanley for a teacher. As mentioned above she was a dedicated woman who…Read More spent much of her life helping the students at St. Peter's School. But my favorite memory of Mrs Hanley and her husband was a night we ran into them at the Harbor Inn. My wife and I were celebrating a birthday as were the Hanleys. We shared some good food and drinks in a great environment on Manhasset Bay.

If it were not for the efforts of Mrs. Lewyt and the considerable support of her husband the Norh…Read More Shore Animal League would probably not be here. Mr.lewyt made millions with his vacuum cleaner company, made substantial contributions and taught the League modern marketing practices.

I wish there were more people like mr. and mrs. Lewyt. If I had the money I would give it to this…Read More shelter so that they could build a large fenced in dog park to allow the dogs to play, interact with each other and get some excercise. The odds of the older cats and dogs getting adopted are slim and they are there for life. I wish there cages were bigger and wish they had more land to make it possible for them to create this life changing dog park that they so desperately need.

Yesterday, Nassau County paid farewell to one of its finest. By all accounts, Highway Patrolman…Read More Joseph Olivieri was a cop's cop who made his family, his friends and his beloved department proud. All to often in today's fast past world we loose sight of the dedicated, tireless and vigilant service preformed by Nassau County's Finest. All to often the inherent dangers of the job surface and there are times when even one of the Finest falls. Let us remember this good mans sacrifice and for his commitment to put the safety and security of others first. Rest in peace Officer Olivieri. May God Bless you and provide comfort to all those suffering by your passing.

Don't you conspiracy theorists think that a cops kid (Mr.Ryan) would be the one avioiding…Read More prosecution if all these scary theories you say are true???????? Did you miss that in the article?? I do agree--the Escalade should be looked into--but how do you know it wasn't????
Leave the law to the professionals. The lawyers make it entertaining enough. A police officer was killed performing his duties. I can promise you any and every avenue was checked and double checked, especially because of an officers death.

Yes this absolutely REEKS of politics and cover up.
Did the driver of the Cadillac escalade give a…Read More blood sample?? Why not?? They killed a police officer after all.
Oh wait, I forgot, there was someone in the vicinity with a BAC of .09
An easy target for political gain. An easy scapegoat to get the connected Cadillac driver off the hook.
Maybe a fundraiser for mr Ryan's defense is in order.
We can't allow witch hunters to prevail. Not in the 21st century.
And a special investigation should be conducted to determine why the Cadillac Escalade is not being held accountable for their actions.

Adina, I think "Honest Opinions" comment on the Pete Fornatale death coverage does not…Read More coincide with the majority of Port Washington readers. After all, Mr. Fornatale was a 30+ year resident of thie community, and I believe some of his family still lives in town. I'm glad you were able to print the above piece in such a timely manner. Good job.

Steve Jobs was one of the great visionaries of our time, and he was kept alive this long thanks to…Read More an organ transplant. It should serve as a reminder to fill out our donor cards. Who knows what people can accomplish in those extra years?

But the little Mac had a device to make the icons 'do' things. This I could understand. That was almost 25 years ago. I've been devoted to Mac products since --- iMac, iPad, iPhone.
