Providing 34 acres of sandy beach and recreational activities, North Hempstead Beach Park (formally known as…More Bar Beach and Hempstead Harbor Parks) includes a promenade for residents who want to walk along the waterfront. A fishing pier, boat ramp, bathhouse and concession area are also available. The park provides basketball and shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, picnic areas with barbecues and shelter pavilions, and a playground. A Sunday Afternoon Summer Concert Series begins July 4 and continues through August 31.</p> <p>The 60-acre park sits on a half-mile beachfront property (fee required). It also features court games like basketball, handball, paddleball and tennis. Many also enjoy the mile-jogging course, playground and picnic areas. Permits are required for use of the fields and picnic area. Parking fees apply year-round.</p> <p>Directions:<br /> To reach Hempstead Harbor Park, take the Northern State Parkway to Exit 29 North (Roslyn Rd.) Follow Rosyln Road to the end (Clock Tower on right). Bear left at traffic light to West Shore Road. Proceed for approximately 2-3 miles. Located on the northern end of Port Washington, Manorhaven Beach Park offers a 25,000 square foot main pool area…More with competition and lap swim area, general swim sections, zero depth entry for children and beginners, as well as two giant water slides and state of the art play features and a separate kiddie pool area. The 12,000 square foot bathhouse complex also features event space and food service as well as new locker rooms. </p> <p>Manorhaven Park also provides full outdoor recreation activities, such as basketball, tennis, handball, horseshoe pits, and racquetball and bocci courts. Athletic fields for soccer and softball may be reserved. Picnic areas, boat ramp and playground are available.</p>
