Following through on his commitment to institute better practices and pursue inter-governmental partnerships, Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the Town Board launched an interactive Web portal for North Hempstead's Office of Inter-municipal Coordination (OIC). With the unveiling of the OIC Web site (www.oicnorthhempsteadny.net), municipalities will have a critical tool to help enhance their ability to communicate with each other and the Town of North Hempstead as well to request services from the town and participate in joint purchasing agreements. As a native of Port Washington, Joshua Crandall always understood the "commuting culture" on Long Island. He said he realized how technology keeps people connected, but that commuters are often not connected to one other.
