Evolution Pilates Relocates

The studio stretches out in a bigger, brighter space on Main Street.

Evolution Pilates has moved several storefronts on Main Street into the space formerly occupied by the gift-shop Details. Now at 184 Main Street, the spacious, bi-level studio offers both private and group classes seven days a week, by appointment. It's the third home for Evolution Pilates since first opening in 2003. "We grew out of the old space," said owner Mo Wolfe, "plus it was disjointed, it had no flow." Flow is crucial to Pilates, a method of exercise designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. The studio's new home is a charming practice space. Sunflower yellow walls, coupled with an oversize front window and a massive skylight flood the space with light. A New Om Sweet Om

Yoga studio relocates near Main Street with several upgrades.

A new year means a new home for Om Sweet Om.  The yoga studio is set to reopen on Jan. 2, 2010, at 12 Irma Ave., directly off Main Street, after seven years near the Terrace neighborhood. The new facility takes over the space that housed Johnny G's gym. For the first time, Om Sweet Om will offer clients shower and locker facilities, as well as separate bathrooms for men and women. Studio co-owners Gail Grossman and Lisa Bondy hope the expanded dressing facilities coupled with the one-block proximity to the Long Island Rail Road will attract commuters. "We have a 6 a.m. class that appeals to working women and men, and we'll consider adding a 7 a.m. class if demand warrants it," Grossman said.   The new space also offers increased parking, …
