Vikings XC Runners Titcomb and Kakkar at States

Runners set high goals for the team.

Taylor Titcomb and Sidharth Kakkar both competed in the Public High School Athletic Association Boys and Girls Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Lakeside Park in Pawling, N.Y. It was Titcomb's third state meet and Kakkar's second. 

Titcomb ran the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 57 seconds to finish 47th in the state and 11th among juniors. Kakkar (16:58)  finished 50th and fifth among sophomores.

"It's very rare that athletes get a chance to compete in one state meet," boys cross country coach Jeremy Klaff said.

"For Taylor and Sid, they have now competed in five combined before senior year," he pointed out. "That's very special." 

Klaff gave the team high marks for the season.

"This is one of the best teams in school history, and certainly the deepest team," he noted. "Most of our varsity squad is still quite young, and they have set high goals for themselves, and for the team."
