Police: Pedestrian Struck by Fire Department Vehicle

No serious injuries reported in Port Washington accident Nov. 16.

A pedestrian in a crosswalk was struck by a fire department vehicle last week in Port Washington, according to police.

Traveling southbound on Shore Road, the fire department SUV was turning left onto Mill Pond Road when it struck the unknown victim at 7:11 p.m., according to police.

"No charges have been filed and it appears to be a routine accident," said Port Washington Chief of Police James Salerno.

No serious injuries were reported, according to Solerno.

Police confirmed that a fire department chief was not involved in the incident, as unconfirmed comments to Patch have suggested.

The name of the driver of the SUV was not made available to Patch.
