Manorhaven Elementary Receives Grant For Running Program

Program helps students learn healthy choices.

Manorhaven Elementary School recently recieved the ING "Run for Something Better" grant to help sustain the successful Manorhaven Milers running program at the school. 

ING U.S. awarded 59 schools from 26 states across the U.S. with up to $2,500 grants to help students combat childhood obesity by getting them more active through school-based running programs. 

It's  the third year Manorhaven has been awarded the national grant.

Chosen schools will receive up the funding to support a minimum of an eight-week running program that will conclude with a culminating running event in celebration of the students’ achievements. Schools will receive $1,000 immediately, with additional funds granted based on the participation in the program.

Program materials, such as sample eight-week training plans, distance logs and a running journal, will aid in the development of running skills and preparation for a culminating running event.
