Port Resident Named Associate at Salenger Sack Kimmel & Bavaro

Steve Gokberk has joined Salenger, Sack, Kimmel & Bavaro, LLP (SSK&B) as an associate in the firm’s Woodbury, New York office.  SSK&B, which concentrates its practice in personal injury and medical malpractice law, is headquartered in Manhattan.  Partner Jeffrey Kimmel made the announcement.

“Steve is a young attorney of great promise,” said Mr. Kimmel.  “His intellect, work ethic and enthusiasm were hallmarks of his work as a law clerk at the firm, and we’re pleased to offer him a position as an associate.”

Steve Gokberk started at SSK&B as a law clerk while completing his law degree at St. Johns University.  He made the transition to associate upon passing the bar.  As a firm associate, Steve will assist the litigation team by researching and writing memoranda for personal injury matters, including assessing the viability of potential cases.  He will also be involved in making strategic determinations about actions relating to automobile accidents, trips and falls, and hospital negligence and will draft summons and complaints, bills of particulars, motions and prepare cases until their ultimate resolution.

In addition to his work as a law clerk at SSK&B, Steve Gokberk interned at New York Legal Assistance Group, the Kings County District Attorney, Sandata Corporation and Chubb Insurance.

While at Saint John's University School of Law, Steve twice received the presitigious CALI Award for Excellence in Domestic Violence Litigation (Clinic Part I and Part II).  As an undergraduate at St. John’s University, he was named to the Dean’s List all four years, was inducted into the St. John’s College of Professional Studies Honor Society, the National Paralegal/Legal Studies Honor Society and the Phi-Eta Sigma National Honor Society.  He also received the St. John’s College of Professional Studies Vincentian Spirit Award and was President of the undergraduate legal society. 

Steve is a member of the Armenian Bar Association and the Nassau/Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association. He lives in Port Washington, New York.
