Schreiber Student Places in Essay Contest

Paul D. Schreiber High School junior Jacob Bloch was recently named a third-place, $300 scholarship winner in the Society of Professional Journalists national 2014 High School Essay Contest.   

The topic for the contest was “Why is it important that we have news media that are independent of the government?” The purpose of the contest, according to the Society of Professional Journalists, was to increase high school students’ knowledge and understanding of the importance of independent media to our lives.
