Today: Port's Christmas Tree Lighting

Event runs from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Blumefeld Family Park in Port Washington.

Singers young and old are needed for this year's Christmas tree lighting celebration in Port Washington.

Hundreds are expected to attend the 16th annual event takes place at Blumefeld Family Park Dec. 8 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. to celebrate the story, music and joy of Christmas.

The list of carols this year includes:Oh, Come, Away in A MangerIt Came Upon A Midnight ClearOh, Little Town of Bethlehem; Angels We Have Heard on High; The First Noel; Oh, Come, Emmanuel; We Three Kings; Joy to the World; Silent Night; and Oh, Come All Ye Faithful.

Organizers say adult singers and children 12 and over who wish to sing should gather near the brass band at 4 p.m. 

Hot drinks and refreshments will be available along with tree ornaments and a Santa for a children's meet-and-greet.
