Clearview to Hold Contest for Film Festival Tickets

Twitter giveaway seeks fans for the Gold Coast Film Festival.

Film buffs rejoice – there is now a chance to see new flicks without the price tag.

, one of the hosting theaters for the inaugural Gold Coast International Film Festival, is offering a giveaway contest on Twitter for tickets to see some of the world-class movies.

All fans have to do is tell Clearview what their favorite movie of all time is through the theater’s twitter account in order to win. Lucky movie fans will be awarded with tickets to the film festival.

The festival will run next month throughout the Town of North Hempstead area. Screenings of the films will be held at Port Washington Cinemas, New Hyde Park Cinemas - Herricks Cinema 4, Squire Cinema, Roslyn Cinema, Manhasset Cinema, Adelphi University, Hofstra University, Nassau County Museum of Art and Great Neck Arts Center.

Movies will range in a including foreign films, documentaries, short films, narrative features and more. The 43 films were selected on an invitation only basis to filmmakers and will be shown between 9 a.m. and midnight on the days of the film festival.

This event, which also coordinates with Port Night Out and HarborFest, is expected to bring a big boost to the local economy with increased revenues to businesses in the service sector. Opening night will take place at the Hempstead House, featuring a “Great Gatsby” theme.

“If each person spends $10 while they’re at the festival, they’re spending $300,000 already," said the North Hempstead Business and Tourism Development Corporation Executive Director Ian Siegel in a . “That’s direct revenue to local vendors.”

Siegel added that they hope this festival becomes an annual event that “expands and all of the businesses get involved."

“We are in the home stretch and think that this is going to be the most exciting things to reach our region in a long time,” said Regina Gil, who is the festival’s founder and Executive Director of the Great Neck Arts Center, at . “We think that it is going to stimulate a lot of enthusiasm and imagination and that is what we are all about.”
