Concert - Imani Winds

Sponsored by the Music Advisory Council.

Imani Winds, which will be welcomed to the library on Sunday, April 15, has established itself as one of the most successful chamber music ensembles in the United States. The Music Advisory Council has arranged for two concerts — one geared toward families at 12 noon and another for adults at 3 p.m. These concerts are in celebration of the library’s 120th year.

Since 1997, the Grammy-nominated quintet has taken a unique path, carving out a distinct presence in the classical music world with its dynamic playing, culturally poignant programming, genre-blurring collaborations and inspirational outreach programs. With two member composers and a deep commitment to commissioning new work, the group is enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire while meaningfully bridging European, American, African and Latin American traditions.
