Film Shot in Sands Point Shows at Long Island International Film Expo

My Butterfly produced by Port Washington Resident Robert Richter shows at LIIFE

The independent film My Butterfly, which was shot in Sands Point, recently showed at the Long Island International Film Expo. Port Washington resident Robert Richter produced the film.  

Remarkably, Richter was fighting Leukemia when he met Director Joe Pomarico. The two became friends and decided to make a movie set to opera music after Richter introduced Pomarico to the music. In the meantime Richter found a donor and is now cured and so was able to make the screening at the LIIFE. Check out the video to see what he had to say about filming in Sands Point and the experience of making a film based on his passion for opera music.     

The film was shot as a 1959 period film at a Port Washington dock, , and at the .  In August Richter is scheduled to meet his donor for the first time at Citi Field. Meanwhile My Butterfly will now be posted for people to view online
