Port Play Troupe to Present 'Maltese Falcon' Radio Show

The Port Washington Play Troupe will celebrate the Golden Age of Radio on the air and on stage in 2014 beginning with a throw-back performance of a classic whodunit story.

In association with local public radio station WCWP (88.1FM), operated by Long Island University, the Port Washington Play Troupe will present a live broadcast of "The Maltese Falcon" March 14 using the original radio script from 1943 and a cast of talented actors.

The plot of the story centers around a private detective (Brian Long) who takes on a case that involves him with three eccentric criminals, a gorgeous liar (Anne DeAcetis) and their quest for a priceless statuette.

The show, directed by Pamela Meadows with music direction by David Barnett, features a number of popular 1940s-era songs from the great American songbook, including "Sentimental Journey," "One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)," "Night and Day," "God Bless America," "Just One of Those Things" and more.

The one-night-only event is scheduled to run at the Hillwood Lecture Hall in front of a live audience on the LIU Post campus at 2 p.m.
