I'm sure the "local" politician wouldn't want the tower next to their house. These big companies have no morals, if they did, they would have considered another location for the tower. They recklessly placed this tower, irreversibly damaging that neighborhoods appearance and home values. It's all about the profit...how much money can they make for their shareholders and how big of a bonus check can the CEO get! Shameful!!

Another wonderful thing about increased cell phone service is the safety by which everyone on a boat can now enjoy.With dangerous storms popping up a cell phone is a necessity.Many of us have children and it is reassuring knowing that cell phone reception is up to par.

I saw a story once about farmers that were upset about electric towers upsetting their cows by their presence on farmland.To appease the farmers the power company painted the towers olive green so as to blend into the environment.Maybe if the cell phone tower were painted nobody would see it.

Hello Port Resident,I am a Port resident and have been for 40 years.I used to live on Yennicock Avenue on Manhasset Isle for years.We had a boat at Tom's Point Marina where we had the times of our lives,I am not daft nor am I trying to get under anybody's skin.I will say that I find the protesters and those now throwing a hissy fit to be quite funny as I believe that nobody cared about the tower until they saw their home value drop by as much as 50 percent.The thing that is truly funny is that the politicians that they voted for gave their support for the cell phone tower. This cell phone tower project has been going on since 2009 and now there are protesters.

If I might add to this...I certainly do not know how "soon in the process" did the public get involved. Having said that and for sure I am 100% on their side that this cell tower should NEVER been erected in this location., I must say that in my experience, we the public seem to get "involved" after the fact. Understanding all the pressures all of us are under in earning a living, raising children etc., we MUST keep vigilant and informed in order to prevent things like this to come about.

McCabe - It's quite obvious your comments are far from personal deep seeded cognitions. Property value decline is only one of the drawbacks to the tower. The others: 1) Cancer risk (We get it - its no risk to you and the Mayoral staff because you/they don't live here), 2) Physical Property Damage (We get it, again you or the town officials don't live next door), 3) Ecology damage (Perhaps a bit more relevant to you). Emissions and signals from the tower interfere with birds who feed on certain types of fish, who feed on algae and insects. Any changes in this closed loop ecosystem can cause hypoxia. In the LI Sound Westernmost bays, hypoxia occurs in the summer months especially in the western bays and narrows but the season could lengthen or increase intensity with an outside force disturbing the ecosystem. Hypoxia kills the fishery and in time turns wetlands and narrows into mudflats. I'm a frequent boater and Manhasset bay is my favorite place to be on the water. If this bay, the closest natural basin to New York City suffers hypoxia, you won't be boating much more or doing any decent angling with or without good cell reception. I've been around the bay from Kennilworth Docks to Plum Point to Kings Point to Barkers Point to Execution Rocks and to Manorhaven Beach Park. While not perfect, I've ALWAYS had good cell service. Do you have any interests in this other than good cell reception? Again, if its just good cell service you are concerned about, it just seems unfounded.

Residents of Manhasset Isle have a problem while they were not looking a cell phone tower was erected and now they need to live with it or get rid of this.
And property values have dropped more than 30% nationwide maybe more in Manhasset Isle because this is a crummy area homes are small and ugly have no basement or wet basements many have no garage no room for a pool this is a crummy neighborhood and now buyers think twice before buying a home thats why homes have dropped in value not due to the cell phone tower.

Hi Ben,I took a walk around Manhasset Isle today 3/22/12 and I am in complete agreement with you.House after house had broken fences and lawns that looked disgusting.I saw homes with boards in the windows and by chance I came across a burnt out house with a tremendous dumpster in front.I don't believe there are attractive new homes there,I didn't see them.

Ben, I dont know where you live but we are not clearly talking about the same place!
Manhasset Isle is a beautiful place to live and they do have basements. What kind of comment is that?And as for you RHMcabe that house your referrring to ,that woman lost her whole family in a house fire (look it up story was on patch).How dare you talk about Manhasset Isle residents like that............you both have some serious issues and no cares to hear your comments. Do some soul searching!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is for RH...........residents have been fighting the tower for 3years ,where have you been ? Im so glad you do not live in Manhasset Isle its a Beautiful cummunity!!!
Stop commenting and find something constructive to do with you time instead of attacking people for protecting their homes and children!!!!!!!!!

Hi Frank,thanks for the kind words.I did not say anything critical of the homeowner who lost everything,I simply stated what I saw,if your truly interested in the appearance of Manhasset Isle you might repair the fence around the cell phone tower.I stated that it was by chance I came by that house,how sorrowfull.

Yes ,you are correct he did absolutely NOTHING!! and you ask why??He voted for it (he was on the BZA) and our "wonderful " trustees John DeLeo (who is Deputy Mayor )and Rita Dilucia ALL voted for the tower . They sold us out!!!!!!!! And now Mayor resigned????

That cell phone tower is the most beautiful cell phone tower I have ever seen I would love to see a nice convenient store built next store to it stocked with plenty of Miller products as well as disposable cell phones.I called our Congressman as a matter of fact to tell him how important that cell phone tower is.
