The menu at Bistro Citron, waiting at the table wrapped around your napkin, offers all the traditional bistro dishes. Hors d’oeuvres include escargots a la Bourguignonne (baked snails with garlic herb butter), salade Nicoise (tuna, olives, tomatoes, string beans, onions, potatoes and sliced eggs and lettuce) and the quintessential French onion soup, with a thick cover of bubbling cheese. The steak tartare, raw ground steak seasoned with shallots, horseradish, capers, brandy and various condiments is a special treat. There are several mussels dishes with lots of sauce for dipping the delicious crusty bread. The popular steak frites (grilled steak served with fries), leads off the entrée menu, plus dishes such as rack of lamb, chicken in a Chardonnay sauce and pan roasted striped bass over ratatouille.
Each night of the week features a classic dish. On Tuesday it’s canard a l’orange, on Thursday coq au vin and braised short ribs are served on Saturday.
The most popular desserts are crème brulee, bananas Foster and warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.
Brunch, which features choices of omelettes, crepes, salads, several entrees and mimosas, bloody Marys or orange juice costs $19.
