Readers’ Choice: Best Place For Sporting Goods in Port Washington

These days the right gear just might offer a competitive edge. Where do you go to suit up?

It’s lacrosse season across Long Island. Baseball, golf, softball and running are heating up too.

Start thinking about putting your boat back in the water or wax up that surf board. There’s simply no limit to the types of sports and leisure activities you can tackle with world-class golf courses and ample open spaces nearby.

If you’re looking for that competitive edge, then you’d better choose the right gear. Whether that’s a graphite fishing rod or the lightest, trendiest running shoes, it all comes down to buying from a store you trust.

Time to weigh in. Port Washington Patch is looking to unearth the best place to shop for sporting goods in town. Readers’ Choice is a new weekly feature where we ask you – our readers – to tell us your top picks.

Each Monday we’ll list our nominees – this week it’s sporting goods – and ask for your recommendation. Did we leave your go-to spot off the list? Go ahead and add it in comments.

Friday we’ll announce the winner. So go ahead and vote in the ultimate sports throwdown.

Arena, hands down. They have "everything" (and will order anything they don't have!)

How about adding Port Washington Bicycles to this list? They recently opened a real nice store in the Soundview Market Place right next to King Kullen.

George, great suggestion, it's now on the list!

Last month my wife and I pulled our forty year old Schwinn and Ross bikes out of basement. It was at least five years since we had used them. The technicians at Port Bicycle couldn't have been nicer. For less than 1/2 the cost of a "new" bike we got our relics back in action. We will definitely enjoy riding around the penisula this summer.

For me all our good and great that they are here in this town. If I had to declare a winner I would say Arena Graphic by a hair.

Particularly out of line since it's a shared-use puddle for camp groups splashing, not a good poolRead More venue for individuals swimming.

The TONH should be under some investigation for charging such a high fee for a very short summerRead More season. You lose most of june and the pool closes in early September. Better off paying as you go just purchase the parking permit which is good at the Manorhaven Pool and the Harbor beach. Stop buying a season pass in protest to the yearly excessive price increase.

And speaking of investigations, what's up with Jonny's Roslyn CC fiasco?

Contact the Village and the water district, it's probably a problem with a pipe on your street.
