July 24: Hootenanny; Artist Meet-And-Greet

A look at events going on in and around Port Washington.

1. Hootenanny: The Port Washington Library transforms into a 1960s coffee house for local musicians, singers and songwriters to come together for an evening of music that offers our audience unique musical team-ups and performances. 7:30 p.m.

2. Artists Meet-And-Greet: The Great Neck Arts Center Artists Network presents opportunities for artists to meet, learn, and exhibit their artwork on Wednesday at the Great Neck Arts Center on Middle Neck Road. Meet fellow artists, view the latest gallery exhibition, enjoy complimentary wine and refreshments. RSVP to info@greatneckarts.org or call 516-829-2570.

3. Nearby: Gun-toting robbers struck four times in under two hours late Friday night into Saturday morning, Nassau County police said. The robbers struck twice in Hicksville, once in Plainview and once in Bethpage, between 11:25 p.m. and 1:20 a.m., Patch editor Joe Dowd reports.

4. Port Writes: Also at the Port Washington Library, the group discusses its work and how to get it published. Facilitated by Michael Chaplan at 8 p.m.

5. Later today on Patch: We'll report on the extremes on Port Washington man is willing to go through in the name of entertainment. Also later, check back for this week's real estate listings and more.
