In another rematch, incumbent Comptroller George Maragos (R-Great Neck) is running against former Comptroller Howard Weitzman (D-North Hills).

Nassau Republicans and Democrats have been at odds since the release of the county’s 2012 fiscal results. Maragos claims Nassau’s 2012 year-end unaudited results are expected to end with a budgetary surplus of $41.6 million. Weitzman says the numbers given by Maragos are not what they appear to be.

Recent redistricting should play a key role in reshaping the face of county representation. Approved earlier this year, new legislative boundaries broke Roslyn into four districts now represented by the 9th, 11th, 16th and 18th districts.

In Nassau's newly-redrawn 11th District, John DiMascio (R-Glen Cove) is facing off against incumbent Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D-Glen Cove), who previously represented the 18th district. The new 18th district now represents parts Sea Cliff, Glen Cove, Baxter Estates and Manorhaven; the Village of Roslyn Harbor; and portions of the Village of Flower Hill.

DiMascio, a retired U.S. Navy veteran, is an attorney who served as the Pro Bono Attorney for the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and as a Member of the Board of Directors of the North Shore Sheltering Program.

De Riggi-Whitton served two terms as a member of the Glen Cove City Council. A 1986 Glen Cove High School graduate, she is a graduate of Hofstra University and the mother of three daughters.

In the 10th Legislative District, Republican Jane Centrella is running against Town of North Hempstead Intermunicipal Coordination Director Ellen Birnbaum.

In the Nassau district attorney race, Republican law clerk Howard Sturim hopes to unseat Democrat incumbent Kathleen Rice.

The Nassau County clerk’s race features two-term Republican incumbent Maureen O’Connell and Democratic challenger Laura Gillen.

Democrats David Ayres, David Levine and Republicans Patricia Harrington and David Sullivan are running for two Nassau County court judge positions.

Additionally, three 3rd District Court Judgeships will be decided between Democrats Scott Siller, Erica Prager and David Goodsell and Republicans Lesli Hiller, Elizabeth Berney and Frank Doddato.

Town of North Hempstead

In the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau Legilslator Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) and town Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio (R-Port Washington) are vying for the seat of 10-year former Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman who resigned earlier this year.

North Hempstead's Town Clerk race features Nassau Legislator Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) against Republican Leslie Gross, formerly a Democrat.

Running for town clerk because of the effects of legislative redistricting on his home district in Roslyn, Wink contemplated runs in 2013 for positions including county comptroller, his current legislative position, town supervisor and town clerk.

Gross, North Hempstead’s town clerk since her appointment in April 2007 as a Democrat, switched to the Republican Party after being removed from the ticket by the Democratic Party.

Longtime North Hempstead Councilwoman Lee Seeman (D-Great Neck) is running against newcomer Jeff Benjamin (R-Great Neck).

In North Hempstead's 3rd District, four-term incumbent Republican Angelo Ferrara is running against Democratic challenger Sidhartha Nathan, a former public information officer with the town.
