We are jumping into the state-of-the-art international sport of “Geocaching” – treasure hunting using a hand-held GPS (Global Positioning System) unit or a Smartphone or iPad with a “Geocache iPhone App” – to find hidden “Trinkets” throughout the 216-acre Sands Point Preserve. Enjoy the winter scenery and water views from our trails, beach, and historic architectural sites while challenging your observation skills and feeding your sense of adventure. Adults and families are welcome – whether you are experienced or a novice, join us at the Phil Dejana Learning Center to obtain – and plug in – your “coordinates” or clues that will lead you to a multitude of “caches” or treasures to be discovered.
Things to bring:
• GPS hand-held unit or Smartphone or iPad with App – available for purchase online at the iTunes Store.
• Optional: When you collect a "Trinket" (small toys, coins, etc.) at a location, you may wish to replace it with a new one for the next explorer to find...
• Dress warmly and in layers – hats and gloves are recommended.
