Not Quite Christmas Cabaret at Sands Point Preserve

Friends of the Sands Point Preserve is proud to present an exciting new series of music events in Castlegould’s beautifully renovated Great Hall.  The series begins with the “Not Quite Christmas” Cabaret on Saturday, December 1, 2012, featuring composer/music director Steven Lutvak, Analisa Leaming, Catherine Porter, and Jose Llana, followed by “Sizzling Jazz” on January 26, “Celtic Dance Party” on March 16, and “A Starry Night of Cabaret” on April 6, 2013.  Each event revives the Guggenheim Estate’s Gold Coast tradition of elegant evenings filled with music and dining and socializing among friends.

The pre-holiday rush “Not Quite Christmas” Cabaret is a fun evening of favorite standards and new songs by Composer/Music Director Steven Lutvak, performed by a world-class cast of performers that includes Catherine Porter who starred in “Next to Normal” on Broadway, “Sunset Boulevard” in London’s West End, and the International Tour of “The Music of Andrew Lloyd Weber;” Jose Llana who performed in the Broadway productions of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” “Rent,” “The King and I” and others; and Analisa Leaming who has appeared in City Center’s “Encores!” Series, touring productions of “Annie” and “The Sound of Music,” and regional productions of “Sweeney Todd” and “Hello, Dolly!”

Mr. Lutvak’s latest show, “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” just premiered with rave reviews at the Hartford Stage in Connecticut - see the glowing New York Times Review here.  About the December 1st cabaret, he said, “the concert will feature songs that each of these talented people has sung on great stages around the world (and that is no exaggeration!), including my original songs and compositions by Catherine Porter who is not only a phenomenal singer, but an award-winning composer.  Analisa Leaming was all set to make her Broadway debut in the ill-fated “Rebecca” [canceled before opening], so “Rebecca’s” loss is the Sands Point Preserve’s gain.  Jose Llana is truly one of the greatest of the extraordinary male singers working in the contemporary theater.”  The casts for “Sizzling Jazz” and “Starry Night of Cabaret” will be announced soon.
