Port Resident, Business Owner Helps Deliver Thanksgiving Flavor to Needy

Themis Kangadis, a Port Washington resident and owner of Gourmet Factory, helped deliver this week more than 1,000 bottles of Capatriti Oive Oil to Long Island Cares.

Company officials say the donation was made in an effort to ensure Long Islanders with ingredients to make a delicious holiday meal for friends and family.

On Nov. 19, Kangadis and others employees to unload a tractor trailer full of company products for use in more than 580 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, group homes, day treatment facilities, senior nutrition sites and day care centers.

Long Island Cares regionally distributes more than 6.2 million pounds of food and supplies annually to low-income and needy families in Suffolk and Nassau counties.

The Gourmet Factory is located near to the food bank in Hauppauge. The olive oil will be distributed throughout the local pantries as part of its Thanksgiving and Christmas packages. 

"As part of their corporate philosophy, the company has pledged to work in its community to better the lives of local residents," said company officials in a press release.
