Sen. Martins votes against Compassionate Care Act

A bill to legalize medical marijuana in New York cleared a major hurdle in Albany Tuesday as the Senate Health Committee passed the Compassionate Care Act by a slim, bipartisan vote of 9 to 8. (See my blog "Legalize Medical Marijuana") Unfortunately, Jack M. Martins our State Senator, the man we elected to represent us in Albany, followed his Republican leaders and voted against the bill. It's a pity that Sen. Martins and his Republican cohorts cannot find in themselves the honesty to recognize the Science behind the effective and safe use of cannabis to ease the suffering and pain of many of their constituents; but, then again, they also reject evolution and global warming. I will not speak to their moral deficiencies. I will speak out now, and many times up to Election Day, that this is not the kind of person that represents the intelligence and caring of his constituency. He must not be reelected.
