Cops: Hospital Employee Arrested After Patient's Jewelry Turns up at Pawn Shop

Linda Hernandez, 37, of Islip arrested Wednesday.

A patient care employee for North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset was arrested Wednesday for selling to a pawn shop a missing necklace belonging to an 82-year-old male patient at the hospital, according to Nassau police.

The necklace, valued at $2,000, went missing on July 5, according to police. During their investigation, detectives conducted a search of pawn shops and discovered the necklace had been sold to East Islip Jewelers. 

Police say, Linda Hernandez, 37, of Islip sold the jewelry to the store. Hernandez was arrested July 17 at 11:30 p.m. in Manhasset without incident, according to police.

Hernandez is charged with criminal possession of stolen property fourth degree. She will be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
