Crimes Nearby: Middle School Break-in, Identity Theft And More

Glen Cove

The  arrested four, 14 year-old Glen Cove residents for breaking into  last week.

Officers Brian Glennon and Christopher Morra responded, investigating an alarm set off at the school, according to Lt. Tom Fitzpatrick.

Additional officers assisted in a foot chase, which took them over fences and through backyards. The suspects were finally caught behind the school, scattered from the field to Woolsey Avenue and Appletree Lane. Another suspect turned himself in about an hour later.

Stolen school property included lacrosse sticks, basketballs and stereo speakers.

New Hyde Park

Two females and two males are wanted in connection with incidents of identity theft in New Hyde Park according to . The first case involved a falsified check for over $6,200 cashed at a local bank, while a second incident occurred in the Bronx. Police are asking for information regarding the identiy of the individuals.

Garden City

The Garden City Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident on Warton Place where it was reported that the driver of a black minivan type vehicle stopped and asked a 7-year-old boy if he wanted to get in the vehicle to see his puppies and kittens. No animals were observed inside the vehicle. The driver is described as a male white, middle aged, very thin with black hair.

Sept. 12: A resident reports that someone had removed $10,000 from his account by using a fraudulent ATM card.

Sept. 13: Police stopped a vehicle that passed a stop sign and arrested the driver, a male 26-year-old from Levittown, for aggravated unlicensed operation for having three open license suspensions. He was also charged with the Stop sign violation and defective signal lights.

Malverne-West Hempstead

Several Franklin Square businesses were burglarized on the nights of September 7-8, including Prince Umbertos Pizza and Bagels on the Square, which was hit twice.
