Lightning Struck Utility Pole at Town Dock

Power outages in the area.

Lightning struck a utility pole by the entrance way of the , causing power outages in the area, according to a Town of North Hempstead spokesman. Yellow tape around affected the pole warns passersby to keep away. 

Long Island Power Authority, which was notified about the downed line at the dock, is reporting 409 residents in Port Washington are without power, and estimates that power will be restored by 10 p.m.

If you see a downed power line, report it to LIPA immediately by calling 800-490-0075 or 631-755-6900.
