Di Leo in as Manorhaven Village Mayor

Elected by the Board of Trustees, he will seek election for a full term in June.

On Friday,  announced that Deputy Mayor and Trustee John M. Di Leo, Jr., was unanimously elected by the village Board of Trustees to fill the unexpired term of former Mayor Michael T. Meehan, who resigned March 17.

Di Leo’s term of office will run through July 2, 2012 . In addition, he will seek election to a full term in Manorhaven's annual village election on Tuesday, June 19.

"I look forward to working with everyone on the challenges facing our village," he said in a statement. "Also, in the weeks to come, I will be presenting my qualifications and experience to the entire Manorhaven community, as I campaign for a full term as mayor.”

According to the village, Di Leo served as a village trustee for nine years, after serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals for six years.
