Changes in North Hempstead's Population Since 2000

A look at the demographics.

During the redistricting at Town Hall, statistics were distributed to the attendees regarding the town's population has changed and the need for redistricting.

The town's six districts must have populations that are within plus or minus five percent of each other. The second district's population has decreased 1.4 percent from 2000 through 2010 when the last census was taken, which makes its deviation 5.03 percent. Meanwhile, the fourth district's population increased 3.1 percent during that time, making its deviation 6.21 percent.

Because these two districts reflect a deviation, during the redistricting process the areas, according to the town, must be reconfigured.
