Residents For A More Beautiful Port Washington Receives EPA Award

The nonprofit scores a 2012 Environmental Quality Award.

Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington recenctly received the Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Quality Award. The honor is given to those who have contributed significantly to improving the environment.  

Rep Gary Ackerman, D-Roslyn Heights, nominated Residents for the recognition because of the organization's projects, including the , outdoor events such as and , , , , and delivered to the .  

“Throughout my years as a Member of Congress representing the North Hempstead area, I have had the privilege of seeing firsthand the difference this outstanding organization has made in the lives of our neighbors and the health of our community," Ackerman said in a statement.

Residents Chairman Curt Trinko thanked Ackerman and the EPA for "this wonderful public recognition of the value of the various programs and projects that Residents has been spearheading for many years on the Port Washington Peninsula, seeking to maintain and enhance the quality of life in our community.”
