Town to Host Annual MLK Basketball Classic
Annual event runs Jan. 18-20 in Westbury.
Plans have been announced for the Town of North Hempstead's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Basketball Classic.
The three-day tournament takes place at the “Yes We Can” Community Center in Westbury from Jan. 18-20. Martin Luther King Day is Jan. 20.
The event will feature two tournaments for children in grades 4-9. A girls tournament will be held on Jan. 18 beginning at 9 a.m. and the boys tournament will be held Jan. 19 at 9 a.m.
Entry fee for a team of up to 12 players is $150 with an additional $30 fee for officials. All teams are guaranteed to play at least three games. Participants are asked to bring their own uniforms.
Additionally, two 3-On-3 Tournaments will be held on Jan. 20 at 9 a.m. The tournament is open to boys and girls grades 4-12, and there is also a division for adults. Entry fee of $40 per team.
The “Yes We Can” Community Center is located at 141 Garden St. in Westbury.
