Whiz Kid: Scott Singer

This high school senior has traveled the world in the name of music.

NAME: Scott Singer, age 17.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Percussionist with the New York Youth Symphony, varsity athlete. 

KEY TO AWESOMENESS: Singer started playing drums when he was five years old and now specializes in the marimba and other mallet percussion instruments.  As a percussionist of the New York Youth Symphony, he performs at Carnegie Hall three times a year.  He traveled to Europe and northern Africa last summer with the Long Island Youth Orchestra. An athlete, he played football for the Vikings for four years, the last two on varsity, starting on the offensive line this past season. This year, he also participated in Shakespeare Day at Schreiber, and in February, appeared in "Our Country's Good."
